Gwangju Biennale

The Kingpins developed a site specific performative intervention for the Gwangju Biennale which related drag performance to American coffee chain Starbucks. The costume design, choreography and performative strategy was developed in response to the marketing aesthetic of Starbucks. The work framed the multinational coffee corporation as a architectural drag show that performs a simulation of an authentic bohemian coffee house. The performance mapped all the Starbucks sites of Gwangju performed across one night of the biennale that resulted in a video installation with performance documentation.
